Khurda, Aug 17: A Class V student died after he came in contact with a live electric wire in Kulantira Sasan village under Balipatana Police Station in Khurda district

The deceased has been identified as Chandan Bhoi.

According to reports, Chandan was playing near his house when he came in contact with a live electric wire that had snapped earlier and was lying concealed beneath a fallen tree branch.

Chandan was immediately rescued and rushed to a nearby health facility but was declared dead upon arrival.

Following the incident, locals expressed deep sorrow and blamed the negligence in electrical maintenance and delayed response from authorities.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Officials from the electricity department are also expected to visit the site to assess the cause and circumstances surrounding the wire failure.
