Puri, Oct 17: A Class IX student suffered critical burn injuries while allegedly performing a stunt using petrol at Balukeswar Government High School under Brahmagiri block in Odisha’s Puri district on Friday, police sources said.
The injured student, identified as Om Satya Prakash Sahu, was initially admitted to Puri District Headquarters Hospital and later shifted to Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment due to the severity of his condition.
According to the sources, two students were attempting a
stunt using petrol from a bottle found within the school. During the act, the
petrol ignited, causing one of them to catch fire and leaving the student
injured.

After getting information, local police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
Shockingly, the school’s headmaster responded insensitively, claiming ignorance about the incident. The lack of awareness and accountability from school authorities has triggered outrage among parents and locals.
