Ganjam, June 6: A class 8 student died after being crushed under the wheels of a speeding truck on Math Brahmapur road under the jurisdiction of Kodala police station in Ganjam district.

The deceased has been identified as Shubhakara Nahak.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Thursday evening when Shubhakara, along with Swapnajit was returning home after tuition. Meanwhile, they were hit by a speeding truck.

Following the incident, Shubhakara was crushed under the truck's wheels and died on the spot while Swapnajit was thrown aside and sustained injuries.

Following the incident, Kodala police, fire brigade, and ambulance arrived the spot and recovered the Shubhakara’s body from under the truck.

The body was seized and sent to Brahmapur Medical College for post-mortem.

Reportedly, the truck driver has been detained, and investigation into the incident is underway.
