Civil Aviation Security Training Camp Inaugurated in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Feb 9: A two-week Civil Aviation Security Training camp was inaugurated at the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy (BPSPA) here in Odisha, officials said on Tuesday.

 

The programme, aimed at strengthening aviation security across Odisha’s airports, was formally inaugurated by Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar, who lit the ceremonial lamp.

 

Forty police security personnel drawn from Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Jeypore (Koraput), and Utkela (Kalahandi) airports are participating in the training. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Kumar urged the trainees to discharge their duties with sincerity and set a benchmark for aviation security nationwide.

Pradeep Baxla, Regional Director of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), briefed the participants on technical aspects and protocols of aviation safety. The inaugural event was attended by Debadatta Suranjita Jena, Special Secretary to the Commerce and Transport Department and Director of Civil Aviation, Government of Odisha.

Other dignitaries present included SP U.S. Mishra and aviation consultant Suresh Chandra Hota. The programme is being coordinated by Deputy Commandant Lalitendu Mohanty. Officials said the training would focus on enhancing preparedness and response mechanisms at airports, in line with national security standards.
