Jharsuguda, Mar 12: In a tragic mishap, a man was killed and his wife sustained critical injuries as a heavy vehicle hit their motorcycle at Singharpur under the Lakhanpur police station limits in the Jharsuguda district this afternoon. 

The deceased has been identified as Nohar Sai (29), a resident of Reda village under Shakti district of neighbouring Chhattisgarh. The injured, Nila Waren, is undergoing treatment at the Community Health Centre, Lakhanpur. 

According to the information, Nohar along with his wife Nila and their three-year-old daughter was going on a motorcycle to their village from Jharsuguda when a heavy vehicle coming from the opposite side hit them. Nohar reportedly died on the spot, while Nila suffered serious injuries. However, their daughter was miraculously saved. 

On being informed, the Lakhanpur police rushed Nohar and Nila to the Lakhanpur CHC where doctors declared Nohar dead. Nila is still undergoing treatment. 

While the driver of the heavy vehicle managed to flee from the spot, police seized the vehicle and started further investigation.
