Sambalpur, Feb 7: As many as 775 senior citizens from Odisha went on Tirthayatra (Pilgrimage) with the support of the State government today.


The elderly people, aged between 60 and 70 years, will visit places of religious importance at various places in the country. They will visit Dakshina Kali Temple in Kolkata and Maa Kakshya Temple in Guwahati.


The State government sponsors the travelling, boarding and travelling costs of the elderly pilgrims under the "Chalo Dekhen Apna Desh' Programme.

According to the information, a special train carrying the Tirthayatris started its journey from the Sambalpur railway station. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra saw off the pilgrims.
