Puri, July 15: The Puri Bada Danda (2.5 km Grand Road) swelled with the footfall of lakhs of devotees intending to pull the holy Raths- Taladhwaja of Lord Balabhadra, Darpadalan of Devi Subhadra and Nandighos of Lord Jagannath- on Bahuda Yatra today. 

Devotees were seen moving freely and watching the performing arts of various kinds staged along the Bada Danda before pulling of the Raths. Chakri swinging, Odissi show, Hanuman's movement, Kirtan singing, and many more activities marked the grand celebration of Rath Yatra. 

According to the information, Dhadi Pahandi started at noon with Chakraraj Sudarshan being taken first followed by Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath. By the time of filing of this article, Chakraraj Sudarshan, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra were already seated on their respecive Raths. Lord Jagannath's Pahandi was still underway. 

Chherapahmara Niti will begin after all the deities are seated on the Raths. Gajapati Maharaja will sweep the Raths with a golden broom amid sprinkling of water and flowers and hymn chanting.

Rath pulling is scheduled to begin at 4 pm.
