Centre To Set Up Waste Treatment Plant In Odisha’s Sambalpur, Says Union Minister Pradhan

Sambalpur, Feb 24: In a major announcement, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, on his second day of Odisha visit, has said that the Central Govt has planned to set up a Waste Treatment Plant in Sambalpur.
He said that the decision has been taken to make Sambalpur a clean district. The project will cost approximately Rs 50 crore.
“The Modi Govt has planned to set up Waste Treatment Plant in the city at a cost of more than Rs 50 crore in the coming days with the aim of ‘Clean Sambalpur’. However, we need collective efforts to ensure cleanliness,” stated Union Minister Pradhan.
A Cleanliness Drive Launched
The Union Education Minister, on Monday, has launched a cleanliness drive – ‘Jana Bhagidari Dwara Swachhata’ (Cleanliness Through Public Participation) – in Sambalpur.
Attending an event of Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC), he launched the drive. In addition, Pradhan also flagged off the SMC’s ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ vehicles. He also participated in the cleanliness drive sweeping roads and picking garbage.
“The philosopher of non-violence, Mahatma Gandhi made 'cleanliness' a medium in the progress of the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made this campaign a mass movement,” stated the Union Minister.
What He Said?
“To keep Sambalpur clean, we all have to take responsibility. Sambalpur will not be clean if we do not change ourselves and do not have a sense of responsibility towards cleanliness. We all have to work for this keeping aside party, opinion, organization and ideology.
“Our dream of a clean Sambalpur can be fulfilled only if we became clean social workers. The way we adopted physical exercise or other practices to keep ourselves fit, cleanliness should also be adopted by everyone.
“We all need to segregate wet and dry waste in a systematic manner at various points, lanes and by-lanes of the city. We need to make ‘Our Sambalpur, Swachh Sambalpur’ slogan a success.
“With the blessings of Maa Samaleswari, let us take resolutions to make cleanliness an integral part of our lives and keep our city and surrounding areas clean and beautiful. We need to be committed to fulfill Gandhi ji's dream of a clean India.”
Day 2 Of Union Minister Pradhan’s Odisha Visit
Notably, Union Minister Pradhan is on a two-day visit to Odisha. This is his second day of the visit, where he is scheduled to attend various events in Sambalpur.
On Day 1 of his Odisha visit, Union Minister Pradhan had visited various temples Sunday in Angul and Dhenkanal, offering prayers to the deities.
