Centre Of Management Education To Meet Growing Logistics Needs In The State: Dharmendra Pradhan

Key Points

Union Minister for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday inaugurated the Center of Management Education (CME) to be run jointly by IIM Mumbai and IIM Sambalpur in Nalco town in Angul district.

Angul, Mar 5: Union Minister for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday inaugurated the Center of Management Education (CME) to be run jointly by IIM Mumbai and IIM Sambalpur in Nalco town in Angul district.

On this occasion, the Union Minister said that Angul is an industrially rich region and famed with large-scale coal production.

Under the Modi government, Dhenkanal and Angul have registered growth in many sectors, including railways and roads. The Management Education Center has added to the growth spree under the PM Ganti Shakti programme. Focus is being given on promoting logistics and supply chain operations through digitization. The much-needed development in the logistics sector can only be achieved by enhancing the specific skills of the workforce in the region's industries. The CME will cater to the growing need for logistics expertise in the state. The center is dedicated to the entire State.

Pradhan further said that initially, the management center will offer a three-month, six-month and one-year Executive Post Graduate Program (EPGP) on Logistics and Operations through Digitization. The course content has been designed by IIMs in consultation with industry. The center will offer new courses on management keeping in view the needs of different times.

Currently, MCL and Nalco are the two leading Central enterprises operating in the local area. MCL has signed an MoU to select 40 executives in each batch for this course. Similarly, an MoU has been signed on behalf of Nalco to select 15 executives for this course and arrange classrooms, offices and accommodation at low cost. The two flagship state-owned enterprises are critical to the upskilling of our workforce and industrial dynamism, he said. With two IIMs, the CME will address key areas of industrial mobility through technology. Major state-owned enterprises and institutions have partnered to make the logistics sector efficient, technology-driven and reliable. This is a good sign for the economic development of our country's economy, he contended.

He again said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving special priority to all aspects to make the country developed in the next 25 years. Angul and Dhenkanal districts are benefiting greatly due to reforms and expertise in the mining policy of the Prime Minister. There is no lack of money, rather there is a lack of planning here. So focus is on improving the skills of the workers.

Today's initiative will help in the development of the logistics sector in various districts including Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, and Cuttack, said the Union Minister.
