Bhubaneswar, Jul 30: Two senior IPS officers from the Odisha cadre are set to join central deputation following approval from the Cabinet Committee on Appointments. The officers — Yashwant Jethwa of the 1994 batch and RP Koche of the 1993 batch — will be appointed to positions equivalent to Director General (DG) rank at the Centre.

Jethwa has held several key positions in Odisha, known for his strategic leadership and operational expertise. Koche, another seasoned officer, has also served in various critical roles within the state police force. Their central deputation reflects the Centre’s recognition of their experience and capabilities.

The Cabinet Committee’s nod clears the way for their formal appointment to high-ranking roles in central government agencies or departments. While the exact postings are yet to be officially announced, both officers are expected to take charge of responsibilities that align with their seniority and expertise.

This move is part of the regular cadre management process, where senior officers are deputed to the Centre to contribute to national-level law enforcement and administrative functions. Deputation also provides officers with broader exposure and opportunities to work on policy-level initiatives.

The Odisha government has confirmed the development and extended its support for the officers’ transition to central roles.
