Cuttack, April 8: A six-member central investigation team visited SCB Medical College and Hospital today to probe the recent fire incident at the Trauma ICU. The team held discussions with SCB authorities, senior district administration officials, and fire department officers before inspecting the damaged ICU unit.
The delegation was led by Aditya Kumar, Commandant of the National Disaster Management Authority. Other members included senior professor Arvind Kumar from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Chief Medical Officer, Fire Advisor Prashant Lonkar from the Ministry of Home Affairs, NDRF Commandant Nagendra Sharma, and Sunil Kumar Sahu, General Manager of OSDMA.
During their visit, the team examined how the fire broke out inside the ICU, the immediate response by fire services, and measures taken to evacuate patients. They also discussed strategies to prevent such incidents in the future and strengthen hospital safety protocols.

SCB Superintendent Jyotish Chandra Choudhury confirmed that the central team interacted with all stakeholders and inspected the affected area thoroughly. However, he noted that the investigators did not provide any immediate feedback or official statement after the inspection. “The team has conducted its probe and returned. We await their detailed report,” Choudhury said.
