Bhubaneswar, June 25: In a major shift aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that from 2026, Class 10 board exams will be conducted twice a year.
This change will apply to students in Odisha and across India.
The first exam, scheduled for February, will be compulsory for all students. The second exam, to be held in May, will be optional-- designed for students who wish to improve their performance.

✨Students can try to improve marks in up to three subjects, science, maths, social science, and languages. Importantly, only the best score from either attempt will be counted in the final result.
This move is expected to reduce academic pressure, offer students a second chance within the same academic year, and promote a more student-friendly evaluation system.
