Bhubaneswar, Jun 17: With an increasing number of cholera cases being reported across Odisha, Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar has taken proactive measures to manage the situation.
While a few diarrhoea patients from the city and surrounding areas are receiving treatment at the hospital, authorities confirm that no external patients have been admitted yet.
To handle potential cases, a separate diarrhoea ward has been established with 18 beds available for patient care. In case of a surge, authorities have prepared to expand capacity to 40 beds, with temporary beds also being arranged as needed.
Hospital officials assure that necessary medicines and saline supplies are stocked, ensuring proper treatment for affected patients. Three to four patients were admitted yesterday, with their condition reported as stable.
Doctors stress the importance of prevention, advising residents to drink boiled or purified water, keep water tanks clean with bleaching agents, maintain hygiene after using toilets, and consume hot food.
Dr. Rupabhanu Mishra, Director, Capital Hospital, has urged people to stay alert and follow preventive measures despite the cholera situation in the city being under control.
Authorities are keeping a close watch on the outbreak, with preparedness measures in place to respond promptly if the situation worsens.
