Cuttack, Mar 25: A businessman was robbed of Rs 5 lakh by some armed robbers in Cuttack's Badambadi area last night.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Niranjan Goenka, was returning home late last night when some robbers chased him. As soon as he got close to his house located at Vikas Nagar lane under Badambadi police station, the miscreants intercepted Goenka and snatched Rs 5 lakh cash after assaulting him.

Following the incident, the victim sustained injuries and was rushed to the nearby hospital.

On being informed, Badambadi police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the matter.

Additional DCP Amarendra Panda has said we have received a robbery case of Rs 5 lakh.

"The miscreants allegedly used a toy gun to rob Niranjan Goenka. Based on CCTV footage, the police investigation is going on and the culprits are expected to be apprehended soon," said the senior officer.
