Puri, Jul 12: After four days of severe disruption, bus services have finally resumed across the state, giving a major relief to commuters.
The move was undertaken in response to the growing difficulties encountered by commuters. The Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association held a crucial meeting on Friday and with unanimous support from all 52 regional transport associations, bus operations resumed this morning.
The strike, initiated by the State Drivers’ Association through a “steering dropout” protest, had grounded nearly 12,000 buses statewide—including 250 in Puri—causing widespread inconvenience.
As of now, approximately eight buses have departed from Puri Bus Stand toward key destinations such as Ganjam, Cuttack, and Bhubaneswar. No disruptions have been reported along any route.
Previously, only 2,000 of the 14,000 buses were operational during the strike. With full services restored today, major routes including Puri–Bhubaneswar, Bhubaneswar–Nayagarh, Angul, Jajpur Road, Cuttack–Kendrapara, and Cuttack–Paradip are once again active.
