Kalahandi, June 5: At least one person was killed while five others sustained critical injuries after the bus they were travelling collided with a truck near Charbahal on National Highway 26.
According to reports, Raghunath-named passenger bus, was enroute to Umerkote from Bhubaneswar, when the driver lost control over the wheels and crashed the vehicle into a stationary truck parked along the highway.
Following the incident, one person died one the spot while five others sustained critical injuries. The injured are reportedly undergoing treatment at Junagarh Hospital.
The impact of the collision severely damaged the front section of the bus, trapping several passengers inside.
Local residents, along with Kokasara fire department personnel, rushed to the scene to assist with rescue efforts.
Meanwhile, Junagarh Police have reached the accident site and initiated an investigation into the cause of the crash.
