Dhenkanal, Jun 22: Kamakhyanagar police on Sunday arrested a B.Tech student, for allegedly smuggling ganja.
The accused, identified as Jitendra Kumar Behera from the Motanga police limits, was caught red-handed with 26.1 kilograms of ganja.
According to reports, Jitendra had been transporting ganja daily by bus, moving it from Chhendipada area to Jajpur, using different bus stops to avoid detection.
Acting on a tip-off, Kamakhyanagar IIC Ashish Jena and his team intercepted him near Alatuma village square and seized the contraband.
Police revealed that they had been tracking Jitendra’s movements for the past 15 days. The arrest marks a significant step in cracking down on student involvement in narcotics trafficking in the region.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover the broader network behind the smuggling operation.
