Man Critically Injured In Sword Attack In Bhubaneswar, Tension Prevails

Bhubaneswar, Feb 15: Tension prevailed in Patharabandha slum area of Bhubaneswar after a man was allegedly attacked with a sword, our source from the ground informed on Sunday.

The injured was identified as Kartik Nayak, a resident of Patharabandha slum. According to preliminary information, Kartik was allegedly called out of his house and attacked in front of his son. He sustained multiple injuries to his head and was critically wounded in the assault.

The source indicated that the attack is suspected to have been carried out due to prior enmity. However, police have not yet officially confirmed the motive.

Upon receiving information, a PCR van and personnel from Saheed Nagar police station reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Kartik was initially admitted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar for treatment.

Victim Shifted to Cuttack as Condition Worsens
As Kartik’s condition deteriorated, doctors referred him to a hospital in Cuttack for advanced medical care, the source said.

Following the incident, tension simmered in the locality, prompting the deployment of additional police force to prevent any untoward situation.

Manhunt Underway
Police launched a search operation to apprehend the accused involved in the attack. Raids are being conducted at multiple locations, officials said.

Series Accident in Odisha Capital
In another disturbing development, at least six persons were critically injured in a series of road accidents reported on the outskirts of the capital city on Sunday, our source from the ground informed.


The incident took place in the Madanpur area under the jurisdiction of Info Valley police station.

According to preliminary information, two cars travelling from opposite directions collided head-on with a scooter on the road connecting Gohira Chhak to Bagchi Sri Shankara Cancer Centre and Research Institute. Following the impact, both cars reportedly veered off the road and fell into an adjacent field.

Police said six persons sustained serious injuries in the accident. Upon receiving information, police personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The exact cause of the collision has not yet been officially confirmed.

Traffic movement in the area was temporarily affected following the crash. Further investigation into the incident is underway, officials said.
