Baripada, Aug 31: The Baripada Sadar Excise Department seized 61 grams of brown sugar and arrested a person in connection with the illegal trade.
The accused, identified as Shambhu Mukhi, is a resident of Takatpur VIP Colony.
According to reports, the officials of Excise Department acting on reliable inputs, conducted a raid. During the raid, the officials seized 61 gram brown sugar, worth over Rs 6 lakh.
Officials confirmed that Mukhi had previously been arrested for a similar offence and was currently out on bail.
Mukhi had been under surveillance due to his suspected involvement in ongoing drug trafficking activities.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and will be produced before the court.
