Breaking News: Odisha Govt Assures Adequate LPG Supply Amid Shortage Concerns

Bhubaneswar, Mar 10: The Odisha government on Tuesday assured citizens that there is no shortage of cooking gas in the state. Chief Secretary Anu Garg reviewed the availability of LPG, petrol and diesel and said sufficient stocks are available, urging people not to be unduly concerned, officials said.
According to the official sources, the Chief Secretary
chaired a meeting with senior administrative secretaries from the Food Supplies
and Consumer Welfare Department, along with representatives of oil marketing
companies including IOCL, HPCL and BPCL. The meeting discussed distribution systems
and supply chain arrangements for transporting LPG from refineries and depots
to retail outlets.
Officials from the oil companies informed the government
that there are no issues in supplying cooking gas, petrol and diesel to
consumers. They assured that domestic LPG supply remains stable despite reports
of shortages in some parts of the country.

Earlier in the day, the Hotel & Restaurant Association
of Odisha (HRAO) submitted a memorandum to Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh
Puri, seeking intervention to resolve disruptions in the supply of commercial
LPG cylinders. The association said irregular supply has created serious
operational challenges for hotels and restaurants, directly affecting cooking
and service delivery.
HRAO Chairman J.K. Mohanty warned that the shortage
threatens the daily functioning of establishments and could impact tourism in
the state. He noted that the hospitality industry depends heavily on
uninterrupted LPG supply to maintain operations and customer service.

While the government’s assurance has eased concerns for
households, the hospitality sector continues to press for smooth commercial LPG
