Bhubaneswar, Mar 6: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday met senior leaders of the Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar. The meeting focused on organisational matters, upcoming elections, and the overall political situation in the state.

The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, BJP state president and Rajya Sabha candidate Manmohan Samal, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling, Rajya Sabha candidate Sujeet Kumar, BJP-backed Independent candidate Dilip Ray, and BJP MP Sambit Patra, along with several senior leaders.

Organisational Focus

Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal told mediapersons that discussions with the Union Home Minister primarily revolved around strengthening the party organisation and reviewing the current political and administrative situation in the state. He said Shah took feedback from leaders and MLAs on various organisational issues.

Elections and Strategy

Samal clarified that while organisational matters and preparations for the upcoming panchayat elections were discussed, Shah did not deliberate on specific strategies for the Rajya Sabha elections during the meeting with candidates.

Rajya Sabha Preparations

However, BJP MP Balabhadra Majhi stated that Shah held detailed discussions on the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. He said the Union Home Minister urged BJP MLAs to ensure the victory of the party’s fourth candidate, Dilip Ray, and reviewed the party’s readiness for the polls.

Developmental Commitment

CM Majhi added that Shah assured full support from the Central government for Odisha’s development and encouraged party leaders to work collectively to strengthen the organisation and take the state forward.
