Boudh, Jun 18: In a historic development for Odisha’s Boudh district, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to flag off the region’s first-ever train services on June 20.

The announcement was confirmed by the Ministry of Railways, marking a major milestone in the district’s connectivity and infrastructure growth.

As per initial information, three new train services will be introduced in the first phase. These include two weekly express trains connecting Boudh to Bhubaneswar and Boudh to Sambalpur, and one daily passenger train between Balangir and Sonepur. The move is expected to significantly ease travel for residents and boost regional trade and tourism.

The news has sparked widespread excitement among locals, many of whom have long awaited direct rail connectivity. The new services are expected to reduce travel time, improve access to healthcare and education, and open up economic opportunities for the region.

The introduction of these trains aligns with the central government’s broader push to enhance rail connectivity in underdeveloped and tribal-dominated regions of Odisha. It also reflects the Centre’s commitment to inclusive development and last-mile connectivity.
