Khordha, Aug 8: A tragic bomb explosion rocked Haripur Majhi Sahi under Nirakarpur police limits late last night, resulting in the death of a 37-year-old man.
The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Mahapatra.
According to reports, the explosion occurred while Mahapatra was reportedly handling a bomb intended for hunting.
Following the incident, Mahapatra was critically injured and rushed to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, Ramesh succumbed to his injuries.
The impact of the blast was severe that it destroyed three nearby mud houses in the village.
Police from Nirakarpur Station arrived at the scene and have launched an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest the bomb was being prepared or handled for illegal hunting purposes. Later, forensic teams reached the site to determine the exact cause and nature of the explosion.
