BMC To Launch WhatsApp Chatbot To Increase Efficiency In Resolving Public Grievances

Bhubaneswar, Jan 16: In a bid to improve its service delivery to citizens, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with IndusInd Bank and PeLocal Fintech Pvt Ltd Wednesday.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Mayor Sulochana Das and Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil.
For the said purpose, the BMC will soon launch 'Bhubaneswar's WhatsApp Chatbot', which will help the citizens to conveniently access and manage various municipal services. The services include the payment of property taxes and trade licence fees, along with collection of user fees for services like birth and death certificates as well as addressing and resolving grievances.
In addition, the BMC has developed a market/vending zone rental collection application, in collaboration with the IndusInd Bank and Emertech RND Solutions Private Limited, to revolutionise the process of municipal rental collections.
"These developments mean that now the citizens will be able to resolve their issues at their finger tips," stated the Mayor.
Both the BMC and IndusInd Bank said that this software will be launched within a month and Bhubaneswar will become the first city in India to take such initiative.
