Bhubaneswar, Jul 9: Senior BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan has been granted bail by the Khordha District and Sessions Judge Court in connection with the alleged assault on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo.
The bail was approved on a surety of ₹30,000, submitted by a guarantor, bringing temporary relief to the politician.
Pradhan had been in judicial custody at Jharpada Special Jail since his arrest on June 29, following a dramatic surrender at the DCP office. His initial bail plea was rejected by the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court, prompting his legal team to approach the higher courts.
The case had sparked widespread protests across Odisha, with the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) Association demanding strict action and launching a mass leave agitation.
