ORS officers agree to resume emergency services after ministerial talks.

Bhubaneswar, July 2: The Odisha government has intensified efforts to defuse the administrative deadlock triggered by the recent assault on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo.

The incident, which led to widespread outrage, prompted the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) Association to launch a statewide cease-work protest, paralyzing government operations across districts.

In response, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi convened a high-level meeting with senior ministers and officials to address the crisis. The government is actively engaging with both the OAS and Odisha Revenue Service (ORS) associations to restore normalcy. The OAS Association has demanded the arrest of the main accused and stronger security measures for government officers.

Following discussions with Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari , the ORS Association has agreed to resume emergency services, signaling a partial thaw in the standoff. Meanwhile, the OAS Association held talks with the Chief Secretary and is expected to meet the Chief Minister soon to press for their demands.

Transport Minister Bibhuti Jena assured that no one involved in the attack would be spared, while Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia confirmed that the government is seriously considering the OAS Association’s demands. So far, five individuals have been arrested in connection with the assault, and further action is anticipated.

The government’s swift response underscores the gravity of the situation, as the administrative machinery remains partially stalled. The outcome of the ongoing dialogue between the Chief Secretary and the OAS Association is expected to determine the next course of action.
