Bhubaneswar, Mar 12: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has identified the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and the Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) as major defaulters in holding tax payments.
According to reports, KIMS owes over Rs 2.39 crore, while KIIT has unpaid taxes exceeding Rs 59 lakh, taking the unpaid taxes’ tally close to Rs 3 crore. Notably, both the KIMS and KIIT are founded by Achyuta Samanta.
BMC has issued notices to both institutions, urging them to clear their dues promptly. The significant amounts owed have raised concerns about financial accountability. KIMS has been marked as the largest defaulter, with dues surpassing Rs 2 crore, while KIIT's arrears exceed Rs 1 crore.
This situation highlights the pressing need for both institutions to address their financial obligations and resolve the outstanding amounts.
