Baripada, May 18: A block accountant officer died in a road mishap near Mayurbhanj's Baisinga on National Highway 60 late last night.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Sanjeev Chatar, was heading to Baripada from Bahanga. Meanwhile, his bike collided with a tractor near Baisinga, resulting in his death on the spot.

Following the incident, authorities reached the spot and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, while residents demand better road safety measures to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.

In another incident, a motorcyclist was killed on National Highway 220 early this morning. The deceased has been identified as Anadi Sahu from Basingi village under Bahalda police station.

According to reports, the accident occurred when a heavy-duty truck (JH-05TC-1945) lost control, leading to a fatal collision with a bike (OD-11W-9868). The victim succumbed to the injuries at the scene. The devastating impact left the body severely mutilated and scattered across the highway.

In response to the accident, distressed locals have blocked the road by burning tires, demanding compensation and stricter traffic regulations.

The truck involved was reportedly traveling from Tata Jamshedpur towards Rairangpur when the incident occurred approximately three kilometers from the crash site.

On being informed, police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the incident.
