Bhubaneswar, Sep 6: In a major breakthrough, the Commissionerate Police has revealed that the blind murder case involving a missing lady caretaker from the Bharatpur area has been cracked.
The victim, Nirupama Parida, had been reported missing earlier this year, prompting a complex investigation involving digital forensics, CCTV footage analysis, and family interviews.
After months of searching, skeletal remains were recovered from an abandoned stone quarry pond in Khordha on September 5. The accused, Debasish Bisoi, was arrested following a digital trail that revealed he had intermittently activated the victim’s mobile phone over the past two months. This clue led investigators to intensify their search and eventually track him down.

✨During interrogation, Debasish confessed to the crime. He had taken Nirupama on his bike under the pretence of filming social media content and strangled her to death the same day. He then dumped her body in the Tapang quarry area, concealing it under tree branches to prevent discovery.
Police recovered the victim’s mobile phone, her brother’s phone, and other personal belongings from the accused. The motive appears to stem from personal disputes, and the accused had attempted to mislead investigators by keeping the phone active periodically.
The case, which began as a missing person report, has now
been closed with the arrest and confession of the accused.
