Berhampur, May 16: A BJP worker was killed and seven others were injured in a clash between supporters of the ruling BJD and the saffron party in Odisha's Ganjam district, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place in Sri Krushna Saranapur village under Khallikote police station limits on Wednesday night over putting up posters for the ongoing elections campaigning.
The deceased has been identified as Dilip Pahan.
According to sources, the clash took place over putting up party posters as part of electioneering in the village, with both sides resorting to the use of sharp weapons in the fight.
The injured were immediately rushed to Khallikote Community Health Center and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur as their condition deteriorated.
However, Pahan succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.

✨Enraged over the incident, the BJP workers today gheroed the Khallikote police station, demanding the arrest of BJD candidate and incumbent MLA from the Khallikote assembly constituency, Suryamani Baidya and her husband Daitary Behera.
Locals reportedly damaged a vehicle of the MLA in response to the incident.
On the direction of the Election Commission of India, the district authorities imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code around the Khallikote police station and beefed up security in the town.
The assembly and Lok Sabha polls for the Khallikote seat, which falls under the Aska parliamentary constituency, are scheduled for May 20.
