Akash Das Nayak also took a dig at the previous government, led by LoP and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik

The state government should take note of that and build multi-purpose halls in every block, said the BJP MLA

Bhubaneswar, Dec 5: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Akash Das Nayak has urged the Odisha government Thursday to revive film policy in the state.

Das Nayak raised concerns over the lack of cinema halls in Odisha. "Odisha Cinema is moving towards coma situation," stated the Korei MLA.

"There are only 50 to 60 cinema halls in the state. Puri doesn't even have a single cinema hall," he asserted adding that the state government should take note of that and build multi-purpose halls in every block.

He also took a dig at the previous government, led by LoP and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik. "The previous government had brought a film policy. But what happened to that police, nobody knows," said Akash Das Nayak, who himself works in Odia cinemas.

He urged the state government to revive the policy for the betterment of Odia cinema. "The policy should be revived. In addition the film makers should be encouraged to make films on legendary figures of Odisha, who had done great things for the state," he suggested.

The BJP MLA also urged the government to give subsidy to such films. "This will help everyone related to Odia cinema, from the actors to people who work from behind the scenes for films. It will make their life as well as financial situation better," concluded Akash Das Nayak.
