Bhubaneswar, Nov 16: A team of the BJP Krushak Morcha on Thursday called on Governor Raghuban Das and handed over a memorandum to him seeking his intervention into the matters of farmer deaths and the State government's sheer negligence in the agriculture sector. 

"The number of farmers committing suicide is rising due to the lackadaisical attitude of the Odisha government. As many as three farmers died due to crop loss and loan burden in a month's time," rued Krushak Morcha Odisha president Maheshwar Sahoo.

Sahoo said agriculture in Odisha has been severely hit due to deficit rainfall

He also alleged that all agro-based industries like jute, spinning, and sugar mills have been closed during the 23­-year rule of the State government.

"The farmers of Odisha are suffering a lot. We are going to apprise the Governor about their difficulties," said Sahoo.
