Bhubaneswar, Aug 3: The Biju Janata Dal, pushed out of power by the BJP in recently held Assembly elections, looks like a house of playing cards now.

A question over the longevity of the defeated regional party has arisen ever since sitting Rajya Sabha member Mamata Mahanta quit the party followed by statements of 'loss of confidence' aired by some former and present party leaders. 

A day after former BJD leader Arabinda Dhali (now in BJP) stated that the BJD nest would be emptied soon and senior party leader Amar Prasad Satpathy indirectly corroborated his contention, former BJD MLA Purna Sethi (now in BJP) said many BJD leaders intended to quit the party now. 

"Many BJD leaders are in contact with us. Once we give a green signal, they will line up to join us," said Sethi. 

He said leaders in the BJD continued to feel suffocating as they were not allowed to meet the party president. 

"I was in the BJD. Out of my experience, I say the BJD will be emptied as leaders feel suffocating there," said Sethi. 

Soon after Dhali said the BJD nest would be emptied, Amar Satpathy contended that the party needed to be reorganized and revamped. It was assumed like an indirect corroboration of Dhali's statement. 

Similarly, BJD Kendrapara MLA Ganeshwar Behera, in his reaction to Sethi's statement, said the reason behind the defeat needs to be detected and the faults rectified. Naveen Patnaik is consciously working. 

"We accept we lost the elections as our organisation situation is weak," he said.
