Nayagarh, July 10: A routine Panchayat Samiti meeting in Nuagaon block of Nayagarh district turned chaotic on Thursday as Daspalla MLA Ramesh Chandra Behera publicly expressed his frustration in the meeting over alleged administrative negligence.
In a dramatic moment, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA flung a file in anger and walked out of the meeting, accusing government officials of acting arbitrarily and ignoring elected representatives. The incident occurred in the presence of Block Development Officer (BDO) Amrut Kumar Raul, who remained silent throughout the confrontation.
Behera alleged that several development projects in the block were being executed without informing local representatives, and officials were functioning in a unilateral manner. His protest was echoed by other members, many of whom also left the meeting midway.
Adding to the controversy, a separate incident at Byasanagar Municipality in Jajpur, district has drawn attention. Executive Officer Pradeep Padhi was allegedly detained by a group of councillors, allegedly affiliated with the BJD, during a dispute.
