Nuapada, Oct 20: Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Snehangini Chhuria on Monday filed her nomination papers for the bypoll to Nuapada Assembly segment in Odisha.
Chhuria, former Minister and president of the Biju Mahila
Janata Dal (BMJD), was accompanied by senior party leaders and legislators,
while submitting her documents to the sub-collector’s office in the Nuapada
district here.
Prior to filing her nomination, Chhuria visited the Lord
Shiva temple in Telipada, offering prayers for success and blessings.

On October 18, BJP candidate Jay Dholakia and Congress
nominee Ghasiram Majhi submitted their respective nominations papers at the
Deputy Collector’s office here amid massive rallies.

The by-election to the Nuapada Assembly constituency has
been necessitated following the death of sitting BJD MLA and Jay Dholakia’s
father, Rajendra Dholakia on September 8. The bypoll will be held on November
11.
The Nuapada bypoll has drawn attention from across the
state, with major parties gearing up for the first political battle since the
2024 general elections.
