Bhadrak, Oct 4: In a disturbing incident late Friday night, a mentally distressed and helpless woman was allegedly abducted by a truck driver near Charampa on National Highway 16 in Bhadrak district.

The swift action by Bhadrak police led to the arrest of the accused and seizure of the truck used in the crime.

Acting on the instructions of Bhadrak SP Manoj Rout, three police teams were dispatched to Keonjhar’s Jhumpura area, where the accused was traced and apprehended. The woman was successfully rescued and is now under police care.

According to preliminary reports, the truck driver, originally from Bihar, had been residing in Jhumpura on rent. The motive behind the abduction is still under investigation, and police are interrogating the accused to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.

The case has sparked concern among locals and authorities alike, especially given the vulnerability of the victim. Police sources confirmed that the truck involved in the abduction has been seized and forensic examination is underway.
