Bhubaneswar, Jun 17: In a major urban development initiative, the Odisha government has announced plans to demolish existing government quarters in Ashok Nagar, Unit-2, to make way for a modern residential complex featuring 1,500 housing units. The project aims to enhance infrastructure and provide state-of-the-art living spaces.
The General Administration (GA) & Public Grievance (PG) Department issued an official notification confirming the redevelopment plan. The new complex will be constructed over 3,000 decimil of land, ensuring better facilities for government employees and residents.
Minister of Works, Prithiraj Harichandan, stated that the project will include an Atithi Bhavan (Guest House), though the final blueprint regarding additional structures is yet to be finalized. Authorities are currently evaluating the design and utility aspects of the upcoming buildings.
The redevelopment aligns with the state’s vision of modernizing urban spaces and optimizing land use. Officials believe that replacing the old quarters with high-rise buildings will improve housing availability and urban aesthetics.
The government is expected to release further details on the project’s timeline and execution strategy in the coming weeks.
