Bhubaneswar, June 12: To commemorate the first anniversary of the Odisha government, a milestone in air connectivity was marked today as the inaugural direct flight from Bhubaneswar to Abu Dhabi successfully took off, carrying 180 passengers on board.
Launched under the guidance of the Prime Minister and with the support of the Central Government, this new international route links Odisha directly with the Middle East for the very first time.
The opening of this air corridor is expected to bolster trade, cultural exchange, and tourism between Odisha and the Gulf region. As part of this effort, 50 tonnes of Amrapali mangoes sourced from districts such as Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Nuapada, and Rayagada were also shipped to Abu Dhabi—marking a sweet beginning to global agri-exports from the state.
