Bhubaneswar, Feb 10: In a shocking incident in Bhubaneswar’s
Bharatpur area, an eighth-grade schoolgirl was abducted for nearly five hours
before being released at the Capital Hospital here late last night, sources
said on Tuesday.
The incident has triggered concern over student safety and prompted swift police action.
Incident Details
As per reports, the girl, a student of a government school, missed her school bus after classes ended in the afternoon. While waiting outside the school premises, two young men arrived on a motorcycle, allegedly sprayed something on her face, and forcibly took her away.
Family’s Complaint

✨When her parents reached the school, they could not find her. The family immediately lodged a missing complaint at Bharatpur police station. Police launched a search, which appears to have pressured the abductors into releasing her.
Release at Hospital
Around 9:30 PM., the abductors brought the girl in a vehicle
to Capital Hospital, left her there, and fled. She was first admitted to the
pediatric ward and later shifted to the gynecology and obstetrics department
for further examination.

Police Action
Meanwhile, police started an investigation into the case, reviewing CCTV footage and gathering witness statements. The incident has raised serious questions about security measures for schoolchildren, especially those commuting alone, in the state capital.
