Bhubaneswar, Apr 25: Amid the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, petrol pumps across Bhubaneswar have introduced restrictions on bulk sales of petrol and diesel.
Posters displayed at outlets of Bharat Petroleum and Indian Oil state that no customer will be sold more than 50 litres of petrol in a single transaction. Similarly, sales of high-speed diesel have been capped at 500 litres per transaction.
Authorities have warned that if outlets violate these limits, their fuel supply may be suspended. Daily monitoring of sales is being conducted by company headquarters to ensure compliance.

Despite ongoing conflict and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, India has assured that there is no shortage of petroleum products in the country. Officials confirmed that uninterrupted supply of crude oil imports has been secured for the next two months, ensuring stability in domestic consumption.

✨Currently, petrol in Bhubaneswar is priced at ₹100.98 per litre, while diesel is available at ₹92.56 per litre.
Earlier, CBIC Chairman Vivek Chaturvedi explained that excise duty reductions were implemented to minimize losses for oil companies and prevent price hikes for consumers. “International crude prices have surged due to the Middle East conflict, and the government will continue reviewing domestic fuel prices every 15 days,” noted the CBIC Chairman.
Petroleum Ministry Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma reiterated that India has sufficient reserves of petrol, diesel, LPG, and PNG. She emphasized that more than 10,000 new LPG connections are being provided daily, and fuel prices have remained unchanged since April 2022.
While the government assures adequate supply, the
restrictions on bulk purchases in Bhubaneswar reflect precautionary measures to
prevent hoarding and ensure equitable distribution during volatile global
conditions.
