Bhubaneswar, Aug 13: Ahead of the Independence Day, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police has ramped up security measures across the capital city under the ongoing Safe City Drive.
The initiative aims to ensure public safety and prevent any untoward incidents during the state-level celebrations on August 15.
Under the initiative, all entry and exit points of Bhubaneswar have been sealed with police blockades while officers are stationed at major intersections and sensitive zones across all police station areas.
The police officials are also conducting checks at key junctions for drunk driving tests and vehicle trunk inspections. Besides, commuters are being questioned about their destination and purpose of travel as a part of the initiative.
This year, the state-level Independence Day parade will feature 50 contingents, including BSF, ODRAF, NDRF, and school bands. Commander Ananya Abasti will lead the parade, with Chief Minister Mohan Majhi hoisting the national flag.
