Bhubaneswar Gears Up for National Mediation Conference

Bhubaneswar, Sep 12: Odisha is set to host the Second National Mediation Conference on September 28 in Bhubaneswar, marking a significant milestone in India’s push toward alternative dispute resolution.

 

The event will bring together some of the country’s most eminent legal minds, including Chief Justice of India Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai, Chief Justices of various High Courts, the Attorney General, Solicitor General, and Additional Solicitor Generals of India.

Also expected are Advocate Generals from multiple states, Vice Chancellors of National Law Universities, and trained mediators from across the country.

The conference aims to promote mediation as a primary tool for resolving disputes, reducing the burden on courts, and fostering a culture of dialogue and reconciliation.

 

In preparation for the event, a high-level coordination meeting was held on Friday at Lok Seva Bhavan, chaired by senior officials from various departments. Discussions focused on hospitality arrangements, logistics, and the structure of the workshops to be held during the conference.

 

Key attendees at the preparatory meeting included Odisha Advocate General Pitambar Acharya, DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh, Law Secretary Manas Ranjan Barik, Tourism Secretary Balwant Singh, Skill Development Secretary Bhupendra Singh Poonia, Home Secretary Radha Kishan Sharma, and Information & Public Relations Director Gurubir Singh, among others.

 

The conference is expected to draw national attention and reinforce Odisha’s growing role in judicial innovation and reform.
