Bhubaneswar, Aug 15: A heart-wrenching incident unfolded on Thursday afternoon near the banks of the Daya River in Bhubaneswar, where two minor students were swept away while bathing. One of the boys has been confirmed dead due to drowning, while the other remains missing, police said on Friday.

 

According to sources, the two students had gone to bathe in the river when they were caught in a strong current. Eyewitnesses immediately alerted local Police and Fire Services Department in this regard.

 

Fire service personnel launched a rescue operation using lifeboats. The body of one student was recovered and sent for post-mortem examination. The identity of both students is yet to be officially confirmed.

Dhauli Police registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.
