Bhubaneswar, June 5: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has announced plans to redevelop the Priyadarshini Market Complex at CRPF Square, one of the city’s busiest commercial hubs, with modern infrastructure and enhanced public amenities, officials said on Friday.
The decision was taken after Housing and Urban Development Minister and BDA Chairman Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra visited the site and interacted with shop owners today. Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, BDA Vice-Chairman Chanchal Rana, and senior officials were also present during the discussions with traders and stakeholders.
Dr. Mahapatra said a preliminary assessment of the decades-old structure revealed that repeated repairs would not provide a sustainable solution. “Considering the condition of the building and future commercial needs, BDA has decided to redevelop the market complex with modern infrastructure and enhanced public amenities,” he stated.

The proposed project aims to optimize the use of prime commercial land by constructing a modern market complex equipped with adequate parking, advanced fire safety systems, improved infrastructure, and better public conveniences.
