Bhubaneswar, Aug 25: Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu inaugurated the UDAN Yatri Cafe and Kids Zone at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar, marking a significant step toward enhancing passenger amenities.
The initiative aligns with the central government’s vision of making air travel more accessible and affordable under the UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme.
The newly launched UDAN Cafe offers a variety of food and beverages at pocket-friendly prices, ensuring that even budget travelers can enjoy quality refreshments. From tea and coffee to snacks and meals, the offerings are priced significantly lower than typical airport rates.
The Kids Zone adds a playful touch, providing a dedicated space for children to relax and engage while waiting for flights.

Minister Naidu emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader plan to democratize air travel and modernize airport infrastructure. He highlighted that similar cafes have already been launched in Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Pune, with plans to expand to 10–15 major airports across India within the next year.
In addition, the minister announced ambitious infrastructure developments for Odisha, including the construction of Terminal 3 at Bhubaneswar Airport and the approval for a new airport in Puri.
He also revealed plans to develop 20 airstrips across the state, potentially converting them into full-fledged airports with the cooperation of the state government.
By 2047, the government aims to build 350 new airports
nationwide, creating 120 new destinations and significantly boosting regional
connectivity.
