Balasore, Jul 3: After days of relentless flooding, Balasore's Bhograi is limping back to normalcy as water has receded from most parts of the region.

The Subarnarekha River, which had crossed warning levels in recent days, is now flowing below the danger mark at Rajghat, with the water level recorded at 9.08 meters against the warning threshold of 9.45 meters as of 8 AM today.

Major village roads across Nachinda, Kharidpipal, Aruhabrutti, Kusuda, Gabagaon, Putina, Daruha, Mahagaba, Gunasartha, and Kumbhiragadi have seen water recede, though low-lying areas in some pockets remain submerged.

To assess the situation, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida is scheduled to visit the affected regions today. She will hold on-ground consultations with flood-affected residents and conduct a detailed review of the post-flood rehabilitation status across various zones in Bhogarai and Baliapal.

Local administration sources have confirmed that officials are compiling updated data on housing damage, livelihood disruption, and agricultural loss to facilitate targeted support measures. Relief distribution and clean-up drives are underway, with special focus on sanitation and health outreach in stagnant water zones.
