Bhubaneswar, Feb 11: Ending all speculations, the All India Congress Committee Tuesday appointed senior leader Bhakta Charan Das as the new president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC).
The OPCC president had been lying vacant for over six months. Sarat Pattanayak resigned from the Congress State chief post after a dismal performance in the last general and assembly elections.
The Congress managed to win only 14 Assembly seats and one Parliamentary seat. The PCC president post had been lying vacant Since Pattanayak's resignation.
An AICC letter undersigned signed by KC Venugopal read, "Congress president has appointed Bhakta Charan Das as the president of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, with immediate effect."

✨On his appointment as OPCC) president, Das thanked all top leaders of the Congress party. "I thank Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Kharge Ji for trusting me," said Das.
He said he would take all party leaders along to strengthen the party in the State. "We will consider our challenges and work together. Massive organisation work will be undertaken in comting days.
