Bhadrak, Mar 20: A grocery shop owner was killed in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Wednesday allegedly after a fight broke out when he asked a customer to pay Rs 15 more against the purchases the latter made.
The deceased has been identified as Bijay Panda, a grocery shop owner at Charampa market under Sabrang police station limits in the district.
According to sources, a customer, identified as Pintu Parida of Ward No-2 in Bhadrak town, bought some grocery items valued at Rs 155 from Bijay Panda’s shop and paid Rs 140 through PhonePe.
When Panda asked Parida to pay Rs 15 more, an argument erupted between the two. The argument turned ugly when the accused customer pushed Panda following which the shopkeeper fell on the ground and became unconscious, sources said.
The locals rescued Panda in a critical condition and rushed him to the District Headquarters Hospital in Bhadrak, where doctors declared him "dead".
