Bhadrak, Sep 29: Bhadrak district police have intensified their crackdown on organized crime and local disputes, arresting six individuals in two separate cases under Banta police station jurisdiction.

In the first case, Banta police led by IIC Suprakash Mohanty arrested two accused — Ilu alias Abdul Majid Khan and Naresh Kumar Nayak — for their involvement in organized theft of electricity cables.

Acting on intelligence, police raided a scrap yard in Purushandha under Agarapada police station and recovered stolen 11 KV electric wires worth ₹95,640 along with a vehicle used in the crime.

The accused were booked under BNS Sections 303(2), 317(2), 111(2), 3(5), and Section 136 of the Electricity Act before being produced in court. Investigators are probing whether the duo is linked to other transformer and wire thefts reported in nearby areas.

In another incident, Banta police arrested four persons following a violent land dispute in Ajanagadia village.

According to a complaint filed by Samir Ranjan Jena, the accused threatened him and forcibly removed cement and iron fencing materials from disputed land. Police intercepted the stolen goods being transported in an auto-rickshaw to a scrap dealer in Chandipur.

Jagabandhu Jena, Sanatan Jena, Ratnakar Jena, and Bholanath Jena were arrested, and the stolen materials along with the vehicle were seized. All four were remanded to court custody, while further investigation continues.
