Bhadrak, Dec 28: A hanging body of a man was found near Kothara canal under Dhusuri police station in Bhadrak district on Thursday. 

The deceased has been identified as Pratap Das (45), the son of Kantamani Das of Kalyani village under Dhamnagar police station here. He was working as a Panchayat Extension Officer (PEO) in a Gram Panchayat in Puri district. 

Das was on a visit to his hometown, Kalyani. He was under mental pressure due to some dispute in the family.

According to information, he packed his bags and told his family that he is leaving for his workplace. Instead of going to Puri, he went to the nearby canal and committed suicide by hanging from a tree branch. 

The locals informed the police who then rescued the body and sent it for post-mortem. Police started an investigation into the matter.
